What we’re looking for
a talented front-end coder
front end enthusiast with experience of using HTML, JavaScript and CSS to create mobile, first, responsive web sites and applications
minimum of three years experience in an agency or similar creative environment
not just a builder working to order, they are full of ideas founded in technology and are motivated to create amazing experiences for people
they are an extrovert and a communicator. Fun. Hacker. Passionate and optimistic about what technology can do in the world
someone who’s eager to learn their craft and deepen their knowledge about web technology
Core technology skills
experience with client side build tools such (such as Grunt or Gulp)
experience of building sites or apps using HTML5, CSS3 and JavaScript
a deep understanding of client side performance and optimisation
experience of using GIT or Mercurial
knowledge of jQuery and an understanding of when to use it!
knowledge of a server side framework (e.g. PHP, Node.js, Ruby or Python) to create simple web-services
Other technology skills
an understanding of the benefits of developing web apps with accessibility and performance in mind
an appreciation of visual aesthetics is helpful and design literacy (design skills are not required, but this role involves working in a design led organisation)
some experience of creating mobile applications for Android or iOS, either using native code or a cross platform wrapper (eg. PhoneGap)
knowledge of creating bespoke themes for WordPress
Role and responsibilities
expands our offering by building products and services for our clients
works with internal teams (designers, UX, programme managers, strategists) to, prototype, and build applications and websites
support and enhance existing Wolff Olins products and services
sits as part of the new Technology community and attached to the design community as a key team member
keeps abreast of trends in the industry and shares that knowledge with the wider team
