Britain’s best camera skills magazine has a vacancy for a talented technical writer.
What is the job?
Practical Photography’s new gear writer will test and review the latest cameras, lenses and accessories, as well as compile definitive guides to the best photo gear money can buy. You’ll attend important product launches in the UK and, occasionally, overseas. The position involves print and digital responsibilities, including an important role on the magazine’s acclaimed Learn Photography Now video disc and the creation of innovative online content. The position is based at Media House in Peterborough.
What skills are needed?
We’re looking for a photography gear obsessive who has a passion for words and the magazine craft to take our title to the next level. You’ll also need to be versatile, organised and a first-class team-player.
Proficient camera and editing skills are an absolute must, as is an ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines. Also, a hunger to learn new skills and the ability to pick them up quickly is absolutely essential.
You’ll need to be bursting at the seams with brilliant ideas and able to work across multiple platforms simultaneously. Experience at planning photo shoots would be an advantage, but is by no means essential.
What type of person would suit the job?
We’re looking for someone who is passionate, enthusiastic and very much a team player. Previous editorial experience would be preferred, but isn’t essential – on-the-job training will be provided.
