PowaBand – “The World’s First Wearable Gaming and Payments Platform” is looking for a stellar head of experience design to join our rapidly growing team. Based in London and San Fransisco, PowaBand make Wearable Activity trackers for kids that take their activity and turn it into in-game rewards, power-ups and abilities in any game on any platform.
The head of user experience is responsible for building, managing and continuously evolving PowaBand’s digital design offering and team — the role’s mission statement is to “Build and deliver an Extraordinary Service Design Team”. This includes but is not limited to:
Key responsibilities:
inspiring and delivering great creativity, design and quality
hiring and shaping a world-class user-centric design practice and team
shaping and managing skills and career development for the design team
collaborating with the executive team to create a winning, talent-attracting, and productive design culture in the office, by leading by example and through proven and consistent management practices
evolving and guiding usage of the best design tools and processes
working in close collaboration with chief product officer, chief technical officer and head of user insight to develop beautiful cross-platform solutions
working closely with finance, resource management and program management to deliver a genre-defining platform and service
willingness to both manage and “get your hands dirty” – you will be responsible for the design and delivery of our entire digital offering, from prototyping through to final product delivery and constant iteration
Basic qualifications:
minimum three years experience delivering design solutions across multiple platforms and mediums
minimum three years experience designing cross platform services
minimum three years experience designing applications and services that balance user needs, commercial interests, and technological constraints
Preferred skills:
a strong work ethic and a passion for drawing out and driving creativity and innovation
strong influencing, negotiation and communication skills, both written and verbal
be a storyteller – a critical element of all our roles is to deliver insights about our consumers, our partners and our developers and their behaviours – verbally and visually – in a way that generates empathy, emotion and engagement from each vertical
preferably a strong background in gaming
a strategic perspective on the work and products that we produce
we pride ourselves on our strategic thinking based upon the insights gathered from the field. Thus, business, brand, and/or strategic experience are desirable
a natural skill to engage with people at a deep level. Whether observing or interviewing customers, or working with fellow team members and partners, an experience designer should be passionate about representing the human perspective in design and should have skills in bringing this passion to life for the team
