Job Description

UK Sport is leading the drive to create British champions, in our role as the nation’s high performance sports agency responsible for investing in our brightest medal hopes. UK Sport’s investment played a pivotal role in delivering the amazing success achieved by British athletes at the London Olympic and Paralympics Games. Our targets for Rio are even more ambitious.

We are seeking to appoint a Head of HR and Development on a fixed-term basis to cover a period of maternity leave; to provide leadership in the design, development, implementation and evaluation of people management and development strategies for UK Sport.

This is an exciting opportunity to lead, manage and motivate the UK Sport HR team to deliver a truly world-class HR service to the organisation, delivering key strategic HR priorities and helping to build, develop, engage and retain a team of agile, open-minded, high calibre people, who are hungry to learn, evolve and excel.

Are you a credible HR professional able to demonstrate up to date knowledge of theory and best practice in HR and People Management?
Are you graduate calibre and MCIPD qualified (or able to demonstrate equivalent experience)?
Do you have significant experience of working in a senior generalist HR role and managing and developing teams?
Can you demonstrate an applied understanding of the strategic nature of HR&D and its role in the development of organisations coupled with the ability to provide practical HR services under a complex policy and statutory framework?
Do you possess significant experience of leading and supporting change management exercises; providing expert technical and tactical advice?
Do you have experience of acting as trusted adviser to senior stakeholders (ideally CEO / Director level) with a confident and credible approach?
