Solomon&Wu Surfaces is looking for a head of surface designer for it’s new range of resin panel sheet materials.

The role requires extensive knowledge and experience of both polyester and epoxy resin and 3-D surface design and creation. Mould making and pattern making are essential skills along side thorough knowledge of materials. You will be working at the head of a team of three. Tasks for this role include:

creating new designs for the Solomon&Wu range of surfaces
creating custom designs working with our clients
creating custom samples and finishes
creating and documenting processes for the in house manufacture of the panels
training and supervising production operatives
supervising the production of samples from our range of products
working with the design team to develop furniture pieces and finishes

The job requires improvisation and enthusiasm, it is the chance to be a key part in rapidly growing and exciting arm of the business.

Salary: £27,000 to £35,000 per annum depending on experience. Work hours 8am to 5pm Monday to Thursday, 8am to 2pm Friday. The Workshop is a 10 minute walk from Welwyn Garden city train station which is a 25 minute mainline train ride from London Kings Cross. Many of our staff commute daily from London.

Required experience:

A minimum of three to five years 3D sculpting and fabrication, familiarity with casting resin and mould making.
