Model Maker – Heatherwick Studio – London

Heatherwick Studio, a London-based design studio, is currently working within the realms of architecture, infrastructure, urbanism, research and development and is involved in a number of significant projects around the world.

The studio considers physical making a core requirement of its design process and uses model making and 1:1 prototyping to generate, develop and realise its ideas throughout every scale and genre of project.

The studio is looking for an experienced maker, with familiarity of architectural models. A minimum of two years professional experience is essential. Other making skill sets are extremely desirable.

Upon interview, the applicant will be required to present physical objects from their portfolio.

Role requirements

The right candidate must:

have excellent model making skills and mastery of all associated machinery and tools
have proven experience of managing model design and production to a very high standard
have the ability to manage, coordinate, and work within a team
be fluent in Rhino, laser cutting and with experience of rapid prototyping
be an effective and confident communicator
show a wide variety of projects within the portfolio including: team projects, individual and self-initiated projects, experiments, and process
show mastery in certain elements of craft and the associated machinery
show excellence in time management, and project management in a high pressure environment
have a proven ability to be flexible and problem solve
