Motion Graphics Artist – The Economist – London

The Economist is looking for an innovative visual storyteller who can pitch creative ideas and bring them to fruition.

The ideal candidate would be a talented motion graphics artist and filmmaker, with the ability to shoot and edit video.

We want someone who can come up with ideas for short, engaging web videos using a variety of styles and tools.

We are a busy department and new joiners must be able to handle a wide variety of tasks and prioritise between them.

The candidate MUST be a self-starter. We want someone who will come up with ideas and work independently until they are completed, without requiring oversight.

The candidate must have the usual complement of skills that makes someone a good employee: accuracy, an eye for detail, an ability to get along well with others and a strong work-ethic.

Familiarity with The Economist magazine, a background in journalism and an avid interest in the news is preferred.

Required:

After Effects
Excellent animation skills
Ability to create illustrations from scratch in a wide variety of styles
The ability to communicate clearly in written and spoken English
Comfortable learning new technologies
In-depth knowledge of visual storytelling
Awareness of latest trends in online video

Preferred:

Maya or Cinema 4D
Premiere Pro or the ability to make the switch from similar editing program
Ability to shoot high-quality video on DSLR cameras
Strong video editing skills
