Job Title: Multimedia reporter – British Baker

Responsible To: Editor

Purpose of Role;

A multimedia role filming video and writing news and features for the publication and website.

Job Summary:

The reporter will film video and generate news and feature content for both British Baker and its website.

Working with both the online and print teams, he or she will develop quickly in-depth knowledge of the UK and international bakery industry, its key players and challenges.

The new reporter, ideally with some experience of B2B publishing, will be expected to deliver hard-hitting, off-diary and diary stories as well as insightful features.

A strong personality and the ability to represent the title to key industry-opinion formers are also important.

This role will involve some travel in the UK and overseas.

Job Outline / Key responsibilities & tasks:

News and feature writing for magazine and web, both on and off diary.
Responsibility for certain sections – eg product  pages.
Produce and present audio-visual and social media content.
Occasional proof reading.
To contribute original news and feature ideas at internal meetings and develop them through to final copy for publication.
Attending external press conferences and events both in the UK and overseas
Organising and attending special events for British Baker.
Developing a network of contacts throughout the bakery industry both in the UK and overseas.

Skills required:

Some experience of B2B online journalism or the ability to acquire the requisite skills quickly.
The ability to grasp complex business, financial and technical information quickly and to write about them clearly and concisely.
Dynamic and out-going individual with strong inter-personal skills and the personality to represent the titles to the industry.
Web-editing, publishing and software knowledge.
Good proof-reading skills.
An interest in multi-media journalism, spanning podcasts, videos and social media backed by the ability to acquire expertise in these areas quickly.
Strong organisational abilities.
Versatile reporting skills covering business and financial news, marketing and technical subjects.
