Location: Sport Northern Ireland Sports Institute (SNISI) based at Ulster University, Jordanstown; SNISI training centres and sports venues (as required)

Job Purpose
The overall purpose of the performance analyst is to develop focussed, impacting performance analysis services and resources to enable more Northern Ireland athletes to win at the highest level and increase the number of sporting winners in the process. The role requires working both independently and also as an integrated team member with other support staff to ensure that objectives at the highest level can be met

Responsibilities
Plan, deliver and evaluate best practice performance analysis services to targeted sports. Services should enhance performance by:

• Capture, analyse and report data from competition and training to enhance coach and athlete feedback, monitor and track athlete performance, provide performance data to the wider service support team and subsequently improve athlete performance.

• In conjunction with SNISI performance analysis team, prioritising and co-ordinating the performance analysis services for up to 8 individual sports including national level programmes and to ensure that the service effectively meets its commitments to athletes, coaches and Governing Bodies.

• Undertake technical and tactical profiling as necessary to inform the preparation of athletes for major competition. These athletes will come from a range of sports.

• Deliver best practice performance analysis services to targeted sports.

• Deliver performance analysis service provision at training and at camps and competitions nationally and internationally.

• Collaborate on the development and implementation of the strategic vision, service concepts and resource management for performance analysis within SNISI.

• Develop and facilitate appropriate communication methods, including workshops, to inform and educate athletes, coaches and NGB’s in the effective use of performance analysis services.

• Manage the data collected to facilitate its use by a sports athletes, coaches, support staff and governing body personnel. This to include use of video streaming technology to support remote athletes and coaches.

• Maintain a comprehensive, indexed database of work conducted with athletes and coaches and prepare reports for line managers within agreed timescales

Work with SNISI support staff to ensure an interdisciplinary approach to athlete management.
Work within a multidisciplinary team to develop and promote a high performance culture.

Maintain professional registration and develop professional knowledge through:
• Planning and implementation of annual learning and development plan
• Active participation and contribution to performance analysis and performance skills meetings with colleagues and management, and
• On-going development of performance analysis knowledge.

Contribute to the strategic development of performance analysis services and provide advice and guidance to senior managers to improve operational processes.
Participate in organisational training and staff annual reviews.
Assist SNISI in disseminating World Anti-Doping Agency information and guidelines to athletes, coaches and support staff.
To take reasonable care for the health and safety of him/herself and of other persons who may be affected by his acts or omissions at work and to co-operate so far as is necessary to enable any duty or requirement imposed on SNISI under statutory provisions to be performed or complied with.
