Warc requires a Production Editor to manage the production of Admap, Warc’s flagship monthly magazine, which for over half a century has served the global advertising community with thought leadership and best practice in all areas of brand communications.
Warc is an online service offering advertising best practice, examples and insights to a client roster that includes the world’s largest advertising agencies, media agencies, advertisers, research companies and universities. Admap is published in print, on tablets and on Warc.com.
As Admap Production Editor you are expected to possess excellent organisational skills, an eye for detail and a flair for visual presentation. You will be a conscientious sub-editor with the ability to understand and edit complex copy. You will also be an expert user of InDesign and proficient in Illustrator and Photoshop. A key requirement in the production of Admap is the sourcing and choice of images that best illustrate the copy. You will be a key member of a small team and a team-focussed work ethic is essential. The role is based in our modern offices in central London and reports to the Admap Publisher and Editor.
Objectives of the role
Ensure that the print and tablet editions of Admap are published on schedule, and ensure the timely release of articles to Warc.com at the end of each month.
Utilise subbing and layout skills to produce an engaging magazine with the highest possible standards of content accuracy and presentational quality.
Contribute to the development of the print and online versions of Admap.
Key responsibilities
Page layout of the print edition of Admap using InDesign, ensuring differentiation in the look of features within a magazine issue, sub-editing copy to meet the layout and ensuring accuracy and adherence to the Admap style guide.
Source high-quality photos, images, illustrations and graphics for Admap, ensuring that appropriate copyright permission is received for publication in print and online. Remake charts in Admap house style using Illustrator.
Produce a tablet version of each magazine using Mag+, an InDesign based digital publishing suite, training can be provided.
Manage the printing and distribution of Admap, instructing suppliers and liaising with Warc’s subscription bureau.
Support the Admap Editor in day-to-day administration matters on the magazine and in dealing with magazine enquiries.
Ensure that the freelance designer and copy editor/proofer are aware of deadlines and that they provide whatever is needed in time to meet the production schedule.
Required skill set
Minimum 3 years experience of magazine subbing and layout.
Software: Fluency in InDesign. Proficiency in Illustrator and Photoshop. Proficiency in Mag+ would be an asset.
Solid technical understanding of the print production process and printer’s page proofing systems.
Experience of the marketing/advertising sector would be a distinct advantage.
Salary
Salary is negotiable, subject to experience, plus an annual performance bonus. Benefits package includes private healthcare and a voluntary contributory pension scheme.
