John McAslan + Partners is a leading, award-winning international architectural practice based in London, with offices in Edinburgh and Doha. An extensive portfolio of award-winning projects in the UK and overseas includes cultural, heritage, infrastructure, hospitality, commercial, residential, education, urban design and landscape sectors. We are looking for senior architects to join the practice to develop and lead high quality projects within our residential and commercial studio.
JM+P is ranked 47 in the latest AJ120 survey, a significant rise from our ranking of 58 last year. The practice also picked up five RIBA awards this year. Chosen from a shortlist of 15 for its ‘careful detailing, strategy and quality,’ the new engineering building for Lancaster University Engineering Building project received an RIBA Regional Award, an RIBA Sustainability Award and the RIBA Project Architect of the Year Award.
The practice is well known for the imaginative and sensitive regeneration of historic buildings – in addition to the aforementioned Friends House, other notable examples include the acclaimed transformation of King’s Cross Station, which has won some 27 international awards, the redevelopment of the Heal’s building, and the Roundhouse in Camden.
Our international portfolio includes the redevelopment of the historic Stanislavsky Factory in Moscow, the British Embassy in Algiers and the restoration of the Iron Market in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, as well as 16 projects in Doha, Qatar, such as a Cultural Forum, the first Mandarin Oriental to be constructed in the Middle East, a mosque, a school, four heritage museums and a residential complex.
Current projects include the new Crossrail Bond Street Station in London, which will handle 230,000 passengers a day from 2018, the Anand Vihar Transport Hub in Delhi, a redevelopment of the historic Bolshevik Factory site, a masterplan for the Royal British Columbia Museum in Victoria, Canada, a significant redevelopment of the British School in Rio de Janeiro, a luxury residential complex in Latvia and a number of initiatives in countries such as Nairobi, Rwanda, Malawi and Uganda.
The successful candidate will have a passion for design delivery and proven experience working across all stages on high quality residential and commercial schemes on both client and contractor side. The role will be key one straddling several large, key projects within the practice, based in the London office and may involve some brief international travel.
Due to the nature of these appointments, candidates with Microstation will be preferred. Excellent 3D modelling, AecoSim and rendering skills are a benefit. You will also need to be fully conversant with the Adobe Suite.
Immediate availability would be preferred but is not essential and depending on the suitability of experience will be offered as a permanent contract. Proof of your eligibility to work without restriction will be required.
