Teacher of Design & Technology – Camborne Science & International Academy – Cornwall

A well-qualified, dynamic and ambitious teacher is sought to join our Design & Technology Faculty which consistently achieves excellent GCSE and A-level outcomes. The faculty is based in a new state-of-the-art Design & Technology Centre with some of the best resources and facilities in the country. We have a large, strong and vibrant Sixth Form and Design & Technology subjects are a very popular choice for our students. Subject specialism is not important, although awareness and appreciation of all aspects of Design & Technology will be expected. The ability to teach to A level is helpful but not a pre-requisite for the post. The introduction to teaching at A level is phased and well supported.

We seek the very best teachers who can consistently teach good or better lessons. You will be able to enthuse and motivate our students with your passion for Design & Technology and creative dynamic teaching, presence and personality.

Camborne Science & International Academy is a friendly, dynamic and innovative school in the heart of beautiful West Cornwall, which affords a high quality of life. Results in both 2013 and 2014 place us at the very top of the school league tables. For two years running we have been the highest performing state school in Cornwall at GCSE, according to official government statistics (percentage of students achieving 5 or more A*-C grades including English and Maths First Entry).

Our school has developed exceptional International Science and Mathematics links with top schools in Japan, Australia, Canada, Singapore, Thailand, China and South Korea. Recent collaboration has involved joint research projects, International Science and Mathematics fairs and competitions, as well as many significant student/staff visits and exchanges. The successful appointee will be encouraged to participate in this amazing and unique programme.

The school runs an extensive Duke of Edinburgh programme, offering Bronze, Silver and Gold Awards. We also annually enter the Ten Tors event. These programmes are open to all members of staff to become involved.

Applications from experienced colleagues and or Newly Qualified Teachers are equally welcome. We have an outstanding NQT Induction programme. The person appointed will be given full support in their career development as we believe that development of staff is a key aspect in raising standards for our students.
