Key responsibilities
Be an active participant of a work-group with the need for specialised knowledge regarding Windows OS and largescale management of Windows 7 and Windows 10 environments.
Become familiar and maintain familiarity with the VDI technologies in use as well as scripts and templates used to build and manage new VMs including the gold image.
Assist/Support troubleshooting and 3rd line support activities
Familiar with appropriate security products that protect your technologies from threats.
Ensure appropriate knowledge and documentation exists for your subject matter technology and Maersk processes within the appropriate operational teams.
Understanding, articulating, and implementing best practices within area of expertise
Present and promote the relevant architecture and strategies within the wider IT community
Cultivating and maintaining effective working relationships with a variety of stakeholders, including end-users, change/incident managers, engineers, and senior staff members
Actively participate in multiple work-groups at one time, supporting internal stakeholders and contributing to projects whilst disseminating appropriate levels of information across all levels of the organisation
Develop and maintain automation scripts for regular operational activities
Ensure monitoring, patching and backup for is in place in line with the service catalogue and any exceptions are actively managed.
Contribute to continual service improvement by challenging, reviewing, updating and creating processes and procedures (where non-existent) in order to drive operational excellence.
The SME will be responsible for service and operational improvements as well as act as a technical escalation for the Vendor and Service Owner.
We are looking for
Working alongside the Digital Automation Service Owner, the Robotics & VDI SME is the lead technical authority within the IT SOE/Digital Automation team. The successful candidate will support the wider operational teams in the evolution and support of our VMWare ESXi based high density Windows 7 & Windows 10 VDI service used by our software robots along with the software platforms Maersk use (Automation Anywhere and BluePrism) to manage our robots from. You will have a counterpart who will perform a similar function for all the ESXi infrastructure which shall predominately be based on the IBM softlayer public cloud. Our robotics platform increases the efficiencies of our staff within our commercial, financial and operational teams through delivering substantial automation of otherwise manual processes.
The SME will be responsible for service and operational improvements of the robotics software platform as well as ensuring the knowledge of our estate is documented and wider incident, problem, change etc. processes are known and followed by the operational teams. Most of the operational activities will occur within the offshore teams of engineers however in your role as SME will remain a technical escalation point for vendors, the operations team and the Service Owner.
This person will be responsible for keeping abreast of the industry developments, keeping the Service Owner and operational teams updated.
As an internal service provider, Maersk IT Support and Engineering teams also manage new requests from its customers. The solutioning of such requests will be performed by the Architects who will work collaboratively with the SME to ensure appropriate solutions are built, costed appropriately and that non functional requirements are taken into account to ensure the long term supportability of the platform.
