JOB DESCRIPTION
Full Time: 37.5 hours per week (with evening and weekend work)
Reporting to: Academy Manager and Academy Head of Sports Science and Medicine
Liaise with: Academy Sports Scientist, Academy Strength and Conditioning, Academy Doctor and Academy Coaches.

The aim of Blackburn Rovers Academy Sports Science and Medical Department is by placing players at the heart of the programme and provide a challenging, inspiring environment in which they can progress and develop to be first team footballers.

Within the Academy at Brockhall Training ground we are looking to recruit a Full Time Physiotherapist to support the Head of Sports Science and Medicine in driving and delivering medical support across the academy from U9s-U18s. This will include responsibility for not only ensuring medical cover for games and training. But also the medical assessment, treatment and athletic development of all academy players while working within a multi-disciplinary department.

Working within an internationally recognised innovative, tight knit sports science and medicine department the ability to motivate, collaborate and be proactive will be critical to your success.

Consequently, in addition to demonstrating a superlative understanding of paediatric physiological development and its relationship to long term athletic development, your interpersonal skills must be of the highest order.

Role Accountabilities and Key Duties:
• To assist in the assessment, treatment and rehabilitation of all academy players (U9s-U18s). Produce progressive injury rehabilitation programmes for all players you are responsible for.
• Organise and implement a comprehensive movement screening assessment of all academy players (U9-U18) (including trialists) based on the departmental philosophy
• To assist in the assessment, treatment and rehabilitation of U9s – U18
• Based upon the movement assessment findings, be responsible for the smooth running of the injury prevention programme on a day to day basis utilising the departments therapists and sports science staff when needed and based on the departmental philosophy. Including daily pre-activation and prehab program organisation and implementation.
• To assist and lead sport science/medical staff in the delivery of early, mid and end stage rehabilitation/conditioning sessions as required based on the departmental philosophy.
• To assist with the cool down, strength, movement re-training and stretching sessions with squads or groups of players as required by the department.
• To assist in the collection and evaluation of ‘Psychometric Measures Questionnaire’ and daily physio screen
• To cover training and matches as requirements of the department
• Ensure the management of injuries effectively meets its commitments to the players, coaches and senior management through accurate documentation.
• Ensure best practice is followed at all times and players are receiving optimal advice at all times.
• Assist in the education of all players and parents as required in terms of injury prevention, injury care, post-match recovery, and drug awareness.
• To assist and lead departmental in-service training as and when required.
• To assist in the development and education of departmental students/volunteers whilst on placement and to ensure that relationships between the club and local educational institutions is maintained at all times.
• Ensure all medical notes are up to date and logged within 24hrs.
• To maintain a professional attitude and appearance at all times.
• Maintain and self-manage individual CPD to ensure all relevant qualifications remain up to date.

• BSc (Hons) Physiotherapy
• Current Member of HPC
• AERA qualified – desirable
• Knowledge and Experience of EPPP
• Good Communication & Presentation Skills
• Excellent Team Work Skills
• Previous Experience of working with young athletes
• Previous Experience working within an elite sporting environment
• Competent with PC and Mac based operation systems
