Job Description
The Head Coach will be responsible for coaching and managing the development of the Barracuda kitted American football team (players and coaches) and leading the team in all competitions, specifically the BUCS championships for the 2015-16 season and beyond.
The Head Coach will lead and motivate the Barracuda team, taking responsibility for the wellbeing of the players and staff under their charge, as well as consistently driving their development as players and people both on and off the field. The Head Coach will be highly organised, able to plan and deliver team practices and meetings, as well as lead the team on game days. Management responsibility for the coaching staff will rest with the Head Coach, so the ability to manage people and delegate is essential. The Head Coach will also demonstrate an ability to share best practice and communicate effectively with fellow coaches in preparation for all stages of the season, including but not limited to scheduling, game planning, personnel and strategy. The Head Coach will additionally be a strong recruiter, able to support the team’s player recruitment drive prior to and during each season.
The post holder will work with the committee in support of achieving the club’s wider aims, maintaining the club’s ethos and standards of behaviour and performance. The Head Coach is expected to have a strong coaching philosophy that they are able to communicate clearly and effectively.
The club wish to appoint a new Head Coach with significant demonstrable experience as an Offensive coordinator, able to develop, motivate and lead an offensive coaching staff, so please consider this when applying.
Candidates must be available for 2 (or more) on field practice sessions per week in the Bristol area, and available for travel to away games as needed during the BUAFL / BUCS competition.
