JOLE RIDER Bike Mechanic Trainer

JOLE RIDER is looking for an experienced bicycle mechanic trainer to set up and lead our new training facility. This is a full time role of 35+ hours flexible over 5 days per week.
JOLE RIDER is a bicycle and education charity based in Tetbury, in the Cotswolds. An exciting opportunity has arisen as part of our continuing growth plans. We are looking for a Trainer for our new Training Centre, to lead the development and running of this facility.

The Role
The role will focus on delivery of training skills to our growing customer base including:
• Casual weekend riders, committed social and club riders
• People who build or restore their own bikes
• Our in-house bike workshop team and volunteers
• “To-be” trainers and volunteers enabling them to impart skills to others
• Secondary school teachers and prison officers
• Disengaged youth and offenders
You will lead and be involved with:
• Running the Training Centre and leading on the courses
• Working with the Directors in the marketing of training programmes
• Developing professional training materials for all training programmes
• Dealing with customer communications and registrations
• Working to achieve accreditation of training centre with national awarding bodies
• Overseeing the Training Centre budget
• Identifying other training and cycling opportunities and innovations
As the Training Centre grows there will be the opportunity for this role to have management responsibilities, supporting the development of mechanics and apprentices to enable the further work of getting bikes to Africa for children to get to school. You just need energy, commitment and ability to achieve this!
The role would be ideal for those with a teaching background who have a strong ability in cycle mechanics. Ex-service personnel would also bring huge value to the role. For those with strong skills as a mechanic, JOLE RIDER will develop the ‘trainer’ side of the role in you.
Skills & Experience
Prospective candidates ideally will possess a recognised bike industry qualification (Cytech, IMI, IMIAL, C&G etc.), to Level 2 /3, or be working toward such. (JOLE RIDER will consider investing in your future development in this area).
Essential experience of:
• Diagnosing, refurbishing through to building and servicing a wide range of bicycles
• Managing changing priorities and multiple pieces of work
• Working unsupervised and delegating to other team members
• Setting, delivering and exceeding goals and work objectives
• Delivering bicycle maintenance training to a variety of customers (Desirable)
• Effective customer relationship building (Desirable)
Person Specification
• A knowledge and enthusiasm for cycling from all eras and across the cycling spectrum, including at grassroots level.
• Highly organised and effective in managing short, and long term objectives.
• Personable, energetic and well presented with a desire to promote cycling and serve the local cycling community, as well as the sending bikes to Africa for children there.
• A strong capable team player with a ‘can do’ attitude.
• Self-motivated and can develop others to enhance their personal development.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Sound MS Office skills to support the writing of programme material and course administration.
• Able to work some weekends and one late evening per week.
