City AM is seeking to a hire a business features writer to join its business features team at its office in the City of London, writing articles on topics such as financial markets and personal finance, and assisting with the opinion pages.
The successful candidate must be passionate about business and finance, and demonstrate a high degree of numeracy.
This is an entry-level opportunity for an ambitious journalist with an interest in business, finance and politics and some experience of commissioning and of features/opinion work.
Job description
Work across all sections within business features, writing several feature pieces a day and/or editing work from external contributors
Business Features sections include Personal Finance, Marketing, Entrepreneurs, Trading, Office Politics and The Forum, among others. The successful candidate may also be required to write pieces for other publications of the company, including City A.M. Money magazine.
The shift pattern is Monday-Friday.
The salary range is £20,500-£22,550
Desired skills and experience
University degree or equivalent
Qualification from a journalism school
Ability to handle deadline pressure and work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
Willingness to work unsociable hours
Requirements
High standard of written English
A demonstrable passion for and understanding of business, economic, political and financial topics
Experience of working on print and digital publications, especially experience of working on opinion journalism and experience of commissioning external contributors
City AM operates a sub-less editing system, so the candidate must be able to write clean, accurate copy that is ready to print.
