Job Description
Centre Manager for Pre-16 Education.

Our SportElite Manager will be responsible for the development and management of all affairs within the centre provision. SportElite is a programme offering young people the opportunity to use sport to increase their engagement, attainment and positive feelings regarding education.

The role requires an inspiring individual, to work with groups of young people with the vision of supporting them to improve their futures, using sport as the catalyst.

The role is based on a 40h, £18,000 p/a pro rata contract, term-time only, with additional work available during school holidays.

Work will start in either July (if school holidays work is required additionally), or September (if termtime only contract)

The role also provides bonuses, and benefits as well as annual leave, taken during school holidays.

Job Purpose:
To develop, co-ordinate and deliver and quality assure a programme of off-site for young people in the centre’s responsible for.

Management of all aspects of the day-to-day operation of the SportElite/Other Provision Programmes
to include:

Management of all staff allocated to the programme.
Management of an identified budget.
Organisation of an effective group/individual teaching/learning programme.
The monitoring of progress of all students.
Management of the teaching base and allocation of resources.
Liaison with and quality assurance of Alternative Providers/work experience placements.
Liaison with Parents/Carers.
Organisation and co-ordination of multi- agency support.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Provide high quality leadership and management of SportElite programme.
Co-ordinate all aspects relating to the operational management of SportElite and other 14-16 Education Programmes
Implement quality assurance procedures as set out by the Education Manager
Effectively manage the behaviour of vulnerable students in order to prevent exclusion and disaffection from mainstream provision within the SportElite/Other (using Support Sport’s Behaviour Management Procedures and Systems).
Compile all necessary monitoring reports for the Key Partners
Monitor attendance and curriculum outcomes for students accessing t SportElite/Other
Manage and develop accurate assessment system for each student and a personalised programme to meet identified need.
To monitor individual progress and set targets for improvement on a daily/weekly basis.
To follow a system for the accurate recording of attainment/attendance/behaviour to the required standard and ensure that statistical data is readily available for monitoring and evaluation purposes.
To manage the process for monitoring the quality of provision at alternative sites and work experience placements.
Liaising closely and collaborating with referral or external agencies and other staff Inclusion staff in the delivery of support programmes.
Maintaining regular contact between the provision and home as appropriate; establishing constructive links with families / carers, exchanging information; keeping them informed and facilitating support for their child.
To establish a system for the regular formal progress reports to parents/carers.
Ensuring that record keeping in relation to individual casework and team activities is maintained to the required standard and statistical data is readily available for monitoring and evaluation purposes.
Chairing, attending and contributing to Inclusion meetings as appropriate.
To follow, implement and challenge procedure, and create an environment where procedure is understood, followed with care and passion and constantly developed.
Be particularly aware of, and comply with, policies and procedures relating to child protection, health, safety, confidentiality and data protection, reporting all concerns to the appropriate person.
Quality Assure and moderate the work of staff and students within the KS4 Alternative Programme.
Ensure that policies for safeguarding and Health & Safety are securely in place within the Alternative Provision, whilst creating an environment where staff and student can discuss, evaluate and raise concerns and look out for signs and symptons of abuse.
Maintain regular contact with parents / carers, through letters, telephone calls and
meetings; providing information about any support for students’ learning offered within the provision.
Manage the development of displays and rewards, which celebrates the progress of students across the provision.
Develop the use of ICT within the centre by promoting its use as a learning tool within the classroom, through external access and developing materials for independent learning.
Manage the identified budget for the KS4 SportElite/Other.
Manage and develop resources efficiently and effectively.
Sell 14-16 programmes to referral organisations in Coventry, Warwickshire and Surrounding areas.
Design new 14-16 programmes in Coventry, Warwicksire and surrounding areas.
Increase referrals in current centres in Coventry, Warwickshire and surrounding areas.
Additional Duties:

The SportElite/14-16 Manager may be directed to perform other duties on or off site in line with their Pay and Conditions and within the expectations for staff within the trust.

Person Specification

Knowledge and Qualifications
PTTLS/Other Teaching Qualification
Degree or equivalent
Sports Coaching at NGB Level 3 OR Level 2 in at least 3 sports
Safeguarding Children Certificate at Level 2
First Aid at Level 2 (working to or willing to achieve level 3)
