Dame Alice Owen’s School is a truly ‘outstanding’ (Ofsted) 11-18 co-educational school with an enviable reputation for adding value to its part-selective, part-mixed intake. In 2014, the school achieved 86% of A level entries graded A*-B, 20 Oxbridge places and 96% of GCSEs achieved 5 A*-C.
Our Deputy Head, Teaching and Learning is retiring after many years of valued service and we are now seeking to appoint to this post commencing September 2015.
Based in its own generous grounds in the Hertfordshire countryside, close to Potters Bar station and served by numerous school buses, we have state-of-the-art Music and Drama, Science and Arts blocks, extensive playing fields and a highly motivated staff and student cohort. The shared sense of purpose and ethos inspire both pupils and staff to be the very best they can be.
We are seeking a passionate educator with student centred values, drive, ambition and a genuine love of learning to assume this challenging and rewarding leadership role. You may already hold a deputy head role, yet are seeking a position that offers more scope for personal development and future headship potential. Alternatively, you may be a learning and development expert with innovative ideas to inspire and lead the team and students to even greater success.
Some of the areas on which you will lead are:
Effective learning and learn to learn programmes;
Development of line managers and leadership in academic areas such as English, History, Politics and Sciences;
Work scrutiny, data analysis and enhanced school performance;
Student feedback and evaluation;
Continuous self-evaluation and improvement programmes;
Parent/teacher communication and relationships.
We will reward the right candidate with a competitive salary and benefits, an opportunity to improve on our already excellent record and to develop his or her leadership potential in this exceptional school community.
