Scope
To edit our monthly members publication – currently called “Freight”, to provide ongoing ideas for its evolvement going forward, to provide copy for weekly e-news publications and be the chief copywriter for key publications and speeches and in particular for the website where appropriate.
Responsibilities
To be the champion for “Freight” internally
To redevelop and relaunch the monthly membership publication as a print and online magazine to include but not only :-
Member profiles
FTA campaigns
Information and advice on undertakings of the operator licence
Service profiles
Legislation changes
Other vehicle types
Policy activities
Profile our event outcomes
To own the weekly email communication to members
Tie this to the monthly publication
Ensure fresh and interesting copy each week
Carry our other copywriting duties to include but not restricted to:-
Speeches for key events in particular for the Chief Executive
Assisting with web copy where appropriate
Other key publications like our Annual Report and Accounts
To manage the overall magazine budget and work with the Advertising Manager to ensure maximum pages sold
To oversee the design and layout of the publication with our in-house design team
Attend industry and other appropriate events in the name of “Freight”
To liaise with all the service departments for latest news on products, the media team for the latest news, the policy team for latest activities and other supporting departments for example marketing for key campaigns and developments
Essential Skills & Attributes
Strong interpersonal skills working at high levels within our and other organisations
Adept at building a great cross team working environment
Understanding of transport/logistics sector
A current driving licence is essential
Ability to work on own initiative and with all levels internally and externally
Intellectually curious to ensure always looking for the next idea
Experience of editing a publication
Fantastic levels of customer service
Desirable Skills & Attributes
Experience/knowledge of FTA
Your offer letter and/or Statement of Employment Particulars state the office to which you are first appointed but you may be transferred to work at or be required to travel to other offices/locations as appropriate.
