Job Description
The role will require some evening work, weekend travel and overnight stays to support the delivery of BWL education packages and competitions.
Main purpose of the Job:
You will work with the Education team to support learners enrolled on BWL courses and qualifications. The role will include marking completed coursework (which will include written and video submissions) against agreed assessment criteria and supporting learners in their learning and development.
Key Responsibilities:
• Ensure all submissions are marked within seven calendar days of submission across the BWL range of courses and qualifications
• Plan and conduct assessment as outlined in the BWL assessment criteria
• Support the development of BWL resources to assist in the assessing process
• Adapt assessment for learners as required ensuring compliance with the qualification specifications
• Assess in a fair, transparent and professional manner avoiding bias;
• Interview candidates if required
• Respond promptly and clearly to learner queries, via email and phone
• Respond to individual emails and joint inboxes
• Assess evidence observing the rules of evidence for official assessment
• Give constructive written feedback to learners
• Act professionally, accurately and in an un–biased manner
• Report any assessment irregularities, complaints or appeals and any attempt to
threaten or bribe, to British Weight Lifting
• Support the wider business with any projects requested.
• Demonstrate commitment and behaviours in line with the BWL values.
Person Specification
The person specification describes the experience, qualifications, knowledge, skills and abilities that BWL are looking for.
Essential skills/experience are
• An industry recognised assessing qualification (eg, Level 3 Award in Assessing Competence in the Work Environment)
• Weightlifting, Strength and Fitness based experience/knowledge with a qualification in a related field
• Relevant teaching experience within the last three years
• The ability to use IT systems confidently and effectively.
• Good written and oral skills
• Excellent listening, communication and interpersonal skills to be able to handle learner enquiries promptly, professional and informatively
Desirable skills/experience are:
• An industry recognised teaching/tutoring qualification
• An industry recognised Internal Quality Assurance qualification
Salary and benefits Working hours 30 per week including some evenings and weekend
• The starting salary for the position will be circa £24,000 – £27,600 FTE depending on experience and qualifications. Salaries are reviewed each year in April.
