Marylebone Cricket Club is the world’s most active cricket club, the owner of Lord’s Cricket Ground and plays a key role locally, nationally and internationally in working for the good of cricket and aspiring to be the finest cricket club in the world.
Our community programmes reach over 3,000 people each year, whilst a further 75,000 visit the MCC Museum on a Lord’s Tour to explore the rich history and heritage that the Home of Cricket has to offer.
In recent years the Club has focused on expanding its relationship with the community and an exciting opportunity has arisen for an Education Manager to support both the Community and the Tours and Museum operation to develop the Club’s offer to children and young people.
This exciting role will include the development of new educational programmes, delivering cross-curricular workshops, leading on school bookings and supporting staff development.
The Education Manager will be responsible for all educational programmes delivered by MCC, ensuring that our programmes are of the highest quality and achieve demonstrable outcomes. Based in the community but providing support to the Tours and Museum operation, the role will ensure that MCC’s wider role of promoting Lord’s is enhanced by exceptional Tour opportunities with educational outcomes which will appeal to a wide range of educational and community organisations.
Required skills and experience
With extensive experience of the National Curriculum, the ideal candidate will be a qualified teacher in Primary Education with some experience in a cultural/museum/sports setting. A passion for working with children and young people and strong communication skills will be required to excel in this new and exciting role. Experience of teaching in secondary education and knowledge of, or experience in, cricket is desirable.
Experience of developing cross-curricular resources will underpin this role along with a customer service ethos focussed on excellence. Strong IT skills, excellent attention to detail and good organisational skills will be key to the success of this role.
