Global b2b publisher Kable is looking for an engaged, enthusiastic and deadline-driven Energy Features Writer to work across our digital portfolio of power, mining and offshore oil & gas publications. This is an office-based role for a full-time staff writer.

With the threat of climate change driving debate in the power markets and volatile commodity prices causing chaos for resource companies, it’s a challenging and fascinating time for the world’s energy industries. If you have a passionate interest in global energy issues, care about sustainable living and would like to engage with a global audience through topical feature articles, news and blog posts then this role may be for you.
Knowledge of online media is essential as we combine both traditional web-based articles with an interactive digital magazine format to provide readers with exciting stories from across the energy spectrum.
Candidates must also be willing to attend events and press briefings regularly and be prepared to cultivate lively and engaging discussions with readers through our various social media channels.
Qualifications/experience required:
Media or journalism qualification essential
Writing experience, preferably with articles published on energy issues
Experience in digital publishing and SEO
Comfortable conducting interviews and using social media
Key Responsibilities
Write both longer format features and shorter news-focused blogs for several transport-focussed publications
Keep up with demanding deadlines with superb organisation and a knack for a quick turnaround
Follow the lifespan of an article using social media streams to share stories and engage with readers
Attend events and press conferences to pick up stories and build contacts with public relations, industry, government and academia.
Contribute feature ideas and attend regular planning sessions
Conduct telephone and face-to-face interviews
Source images and infographics to accompany features and blogs
