About Us
Swim Safety is the UK’s leading event water safety management & consultancy company servicing the sports events industry; in particular working across a range of mass participation sporting events including triathlons, open water swims and obstacle run events.
The Person
Swim Safety is looking for a bright & enthusiastic individual to join us for the 2016 Summer season as part of our core team. You’ll get an insight into the workings of a small, niche company providing water safety management & consultancy services to the events industry.
You’ll need to be highly motivated, organised and able to work under your own initiative. Within this role you’ll be providing valuable support to our existing event managers both administratively but also operationally on-site at events.
We require a good communicator; you’ll be corresponding with clients, core team members & casual staff on a regular basis via email, telephone & face-to-face. You’ll also need to be hard-working & dynamic and able to work under pressure. Being a good decision maker and able to take on responsibility are essential skills we’ll require from you.
An interest or experience in outdoor water sport activities/water safety/lifeguarding is a distinct advantage, as is having a good level of knowledge of triathlon & open water swimming.
The Role
To assist event managers with the operational delivery of their events, with a view to progressing to taking operational lead of your own event, under the supervision of a senior event manager, as the season progresses.
Throughout the internship you’ll be required to assist with a wide variety of tasks, including but not limited to preparing written documentation for events, undertaking site visits, recruiting & liaising with personnel to join our water safety teams for specific events & preparing & maintaining equipment.
An average week will consist of one or two days of office/workshop based work, one day of site visits and/or meetings and two days on-site at events. Being happy to work weekends is essential.
Depending on your qualifications – while on-site at events you’ll have the opportunity to join all of our specialist teams to get a good level of understanding of their operational role. This will lead onto the ability to manage smaller teams at larger events.
Throughout the internship you will be supported and mentored so you can get the most out of your experiences and develop a range of skills. The opportunity to gain additional qualification may also be possible.
