Overall purpose of role:

As a Fitness lecturer you will be responsible for a number of learners in the capacity of both tutor and assessor. You are to support and guide the learners at all times to ensure that the learning is fun, interesting, relevant, challenging and appropriate. You are to guide and support them through the assessments, providing effective verbal and written feedback. This will ensure learners have a clear understanding of their Individual Learning Plans (ILPs), goals, targets and what is required of them to successfully complete their programme and progress into either further learning, or sustainable employment. You will be working within a team to help develop the course in terms of both the delivery strategies and current techniques/expectations.

Key responsibilities:

Functional

• To deliver and support learning through formal and scheduled high quality teaching on the level 2 and 3 Certificates in Fitness Instructing/Personal Training.
• Achieve and be fully committed to FFUK retention, success and achievement targets
• Attend any relevant external events, conferences or workshops as required.
• Attend all lessons at least 10 minutes before start time and to be adequately and professionally prepared.
• Correctly complete registration documents at the beginning of each session and keep these updated.
• Report accurately on the progress of both individuals and groups and to forward these to the relevant Head of Education on a monthly basis.
• Have a fully completed lesson plan before each lesson, evaluation to be completed after the lesson. If teaching another group the lesson plans must be given to the appropriate tutor.
• Ensure that the learner profile sheet is accurately completed, updated and maintained.
• Engage all learners in the planning and delivery of lessons, ensuring that differentiation strategies and techniques are employed in all sessions.
• Thoroughly guide learners through their portfolio, building and development at all stages of the course, completing units when all the evidence has been assessed and achieved.
• Contribute towards the management of learning programmes and to ongoing curriculum development.
• Be flexible, working evenings and weekends when scheduled or required.
• Act as a group tutor to more than one tutor group at a time, if required.
• Keep all group tutor files up to date, with details of attendance, issues and learning support on a weekly basis.
• Accurately track all written assessments and practical assessments for your tutor group as well as any other learner you support.
• Provide accurate verbal and written disciplinary actions to learners if required, in a timely fashion.
• Act as the first step in the appeals procedure correctly and fairly if called upon to do so.
• Ensure effective continuous assessment and action planning of learners portfolios/LAPS throughout their programme and final assessment within the agreed two week time limit, ready for final IV/QA.
• Maintain correctly all monitoring and tracking systems.
• Professionally and positively represent the FFUK at all times.
• Ensure all relevant administration and audit files are recorded and maintained as required.
• For IV/QA qualified workers – you must conduct IQA duties in line with the QA systems;
o Ensure that you are completing timely samples
o Ensure one to ones are being conducted with your allocated assessor
o Attend the scheduled IQA meetings

• Adhere to all established systems within the department and implement any changes only as requested/authorised by management.
• Provide clear feedback to management on either potential area for training not included within the curriculum or learners issues.
• Ensure accurate record and data entry onto all systems as required by the department and management to enable accurate and full reporting.
• Attend meetings as required to maintain knowledge and contribute to the improvement of services.
• Attend any training identified by your line manager or management as required to meet business needs or professional development. Keep up to date in subject area and actively participate in staff development.
• Ensure all administration duties are carried out as outlined above during admin day.
• Assume other duties in keeping with the role that may be required from time to time to cover holiday or staff absence and have a flexible approach to workload/duties.
