Job purpose
To lead the UK clean sport education system and drive evidenced-based education programmes through the development and implementation of innovative and effective education programmes for athletes, Athlete Support Personnel, National Governing Bodies of Sport (NGBs) and sport partners in line with the regulatory requirements of the World Anti-Doping Code, International Standards and Anti-Doping Conventions.
The Head of Education will work closely with NGBs, Anti-Doping Organisations at domestic and international level, sport organisations, professional bodies, academic institutions and Government departments to ensure appropriate education programmes and partnerships are in place to support UK athletes and Athlete Support Personnel in meeting their anti-doping obligations. This role will also support UKAD’s Social Science research programme and contribute to the coordination of policy and education programme development as it relates to trends in society and the fitness sector.
Person specification
Qualifications/experience/knowledge
• A bachelors’ degree or equivalent (in education, psychology, sports or related field is desirable)
• Knowledge of the sport structure in the UK and the issues faced by sport in relation to anti-doping and drug misuse
• Experience in developing a curriculum within a sporting context
• Experience in developing effective relationships with partners to drive, manage and support change
• Experience in providing leadership and direction to a team
• Experience of delivering education material to a wide-ranging audience
• Experience in an education setting with a proven background in developing, implementing and evaluating education programmes, ideally within a sporting environment
• Qualified teacher status or equivalent teaching qualification

• Ability to communicate effectively across all levels, including well-developed presentation skills
• Proven project management skills
• Strong team leader with the ability to show understanding and sensitivity to others’ views and objectives
• Excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills
• Ability to build and sustain relationships with a network of key people internally and externally
