Mossbourne strives to lead, transform and excel, and the success of this mission has been recognised in Ofsted’s most recent report which described the Academy as “outstanding, but within that category exceptional”. The Academy is currently looking to recruit an exceptional teacher and leader to guide the Languages Learning Area. The Head of Learning Area role is a high profile position with direct influence on the strategic direction of the Academy. The role forms part of the Extended Leadership Team which bridges the gap between the Senior Leadership Team and Heads of Department. The role would therefore provide an outstanding opportunity for an existing Head of Department looking to move towards a senior leadership position. The Mossbourne Federation is currently expanding, and as such there are numerous opportunities for advancement.

The Head of the Languages Learning Area is responsible for all aspects of language learning within the Academy. They will have the autonomy over and responsibility for: the behaviour of students, the quality of teaching and learning, student attainment, and the recruitment of staff. The successful applicant will be passionate about language education, prepared to go the ‘extra mile’, willing to fully embrace the Mossbourne ethos, and have previous management experience. Fluent Spanish is essential for this role and French and/or German would be advantageous.
