Due to the retirement of our current Headteacher, we are seeking to appoint an exceptional Headteacher in this highly successful special school for pupils aged 11-19 with Autism and Severe Learning Disabilities. The School also has a Residential Unit, providing an extended school day for those who benefit from a structured social and educational environment, as well as links to Transition 2, a pioneering organisation developed in partnership with St Andrew’s School, Derby College and Derby City Council to meet the continuing educational needs of local learning disabled young people until the age of 25.
You will be an experienced and exemplary teacher, able to demonstrate first-hand experience of senior management and leadership roles, with a readiness to assume responsibility for all aspects of school life. This will include directing the school’s strategic planning; leading the development of the curriculum and to continue to deliver an outstanding provision which meets the needs of students working below national standards. Knowledge of effective planning and management of budgets and resources for both the short and longer term are essential.
You will have an in-depth knowledge of SEN, knowledge of national education strategy and the wider context for Special Schools and be familiar with the National Minimum Care Standards.
In return, we can offer you strong support for your own further professional development, working alongside highly committed and supportive colleagues, with motivated and well-behaved students who enjoy learning.
This school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. This post is subject to an enhanced DBS check.
Visits to the School are positively encouraged. If you would like further information, a confidential conversation or to arrange a School visit please contact Heather Flockton, Headteacher, on 01332 832746 or head@standrews.derby.sch.uk
Closing date is Monday 18 January 2016 at midnight
