The Richmond upon Thames School (RTS)
A new secondary school in Twickenham
The Richmond upon Thames Free School Trust was formed with the purpose of opening a new secondary school in Twickenham. The Trust is a partnership between Richmond Council, Achieving for Children, Richmond upon Thames College, Haymarket Media Group, Harlequins and Waldegrave School.
The school (RTS) will be co-educational, non-selective and non-faith based. It will be for 11-16 year olds and admit five forms of entry (150 children) per year. RTS will link directly to Richmond upon Thames College to provide sixth form opportunities for the school’s students. The curriculum offer in the two institutions will be closely aligned to allow for the close planning of transition from school to college and for joint curriculum development and associated training. The school will grow year by year starting with Year 7 from September 2017.
The school will occupy a new building on the site of the existing Richmond upon Thames College which is also being re-developed.
The work the Trust has already done to develop the school is well advanced and running to plan. The next important milestone is to appoint an exceptional person to lead the school and see the vision through to reality.
The trustees are seeking to appoint an experienced and forward-looking educator who has the energy, commitment and imagination to turn their exciting vision into reality.
We believe that we have a unique proposition to offer our first headteacher and we welcome interest in the post from all who can see the great potential that our partnership can offer to a school.
If you believe that you have the attributes and experience that we will need on the next stage of our journey, please do take the time to read the materials that accompany this advertisement.
