Job Description
Winchester City Penguins Swimming Club is a registered Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO) which exists to provide inclusive and high quality coaching swimming opportunities. We do this through a structured programme of activity to enable all abilities the opportunity to access the sport. The organisation has three main strands of swimming programmes in order to achieve our objectives: performance, development and community engagement.

Although based in Winchester, the club not only attracts members from the local area but also from Andover, Basingstoke, Eastleigh, Southampton and Portsmouth. We operate out of five different pools across Winchester and District, and we currently have 1100 members ranging in age from 4 to over 70. We recently won the Hampshire Development Cup and were well represented at the National Swimming Championships.

It is an exciting time for the club as we grow and we are now recruiting for the exciting position of Learn to Swim Programme Coordinator in order to enable us to build our capacity and advance our programmes further. Reporting to the Swimming Development Manager the Coordinator will manage and run all aspects of our outstanding Learn to Swim Programme, ensuring we continue to innovate and offer a high quality service. The successful candidate will share our vision of being an inclusive club providing high quality opportunities through swimming. You will be an enthusiastic and motivated individual with experience of swimming programmes, administration and dealing with customers. The role involves acting as the pool side coordinator for Learn to Swim Programme sessions, administration of the programme and managing staff timetables.

Our ideal candidate would have experience as a swimming teacher but the role would equally suit a parent who has had children go through a swimming programme, but excellent administration and communication skills are a must. The weekly hours include all weekly Learn to Swim Programme sessions and necessary administration of the programme.     Key Responsibilities

• Manage, develop and monitor the implementation and administration of the Learn to Swim programme.
• Act as the main point of contact for the Learn to Swim programme, including all bookings and enquiries and poolside responsibility for identified weekly sessions
• Coordinate the staffing schedule to ensure appropriate teachers are in place for each session and young teachers are appropriately supervised.
• Lead on a proactive schedule of communications with members, including queries and new enrolments to ensure excellent communications are maintained both verbally and in writing.
• Manage own budget; including all bookings, payments, and controlling costs to meet agreed income targets.
• Coordinate the efficient and effective deployment of the teaching team to meet the demands of the programme, arranging teachers and cover staff when needed.
• Work with the Swimming Development Manager to prepare termly schedules, marketing strategy and new programme developments.

The role is offered for 20hours a week but more hours may be offered for exceptional candidates.
