Line Manager: Performance Commission Chair
Key Interface with: WABA Performance Program (staff, performance coaches and athletes), GB Boxing Program, Sport Wales Institute, Commonwealth Games Council for Wales, WABA Club Coaches, Sponsors
Location: Welsh Boxing Office and National Boxing Facility, Sport Wales National Centre
Contract: Fixed term contract position to be reviewed after Gold Coast 2018
Salary: Full time, circa £35,000, (inclusive of Pension and NI) dependent on experience.
Job Summary: To develop, lead and manage the delivery of WABA’s Performance Strategy for the Elite Performance Program (EPP) and Performance Pathway (PP) up to 2018.
Key Tasks:
• To be responsible and accountable for delivering medals at CWG 2018 and to ensure all other performance targets related to the EPP are met
• To be directly responsible for the Performance Structure and environment that the staff and athletes work and train in.
• To be fully responsible for developing, directing, managing and implementing the WABA Elite Performance Program and Pathway Plan
• To ensure maximum support for Welsh boxers in the GB pathway and EPP through regular liaison with key partners.
• To manage and prioritize funding for the EPP and PP through the development and monitoring of plans, ensuring a consistent focus on the CWG 2018 medal target and GB pathway.
• Develop and implement appropriate selection policies and procedures for all International competitions and Commonwealth Games
• Set the long term and short term competition and training schedule for the EPP and PP in conjunction with the National Coach
• Work closely, communicate regularly with and report to the Performance Commission
• Build and nurture positive internal and external relationships
• Manage all Performance Coaching and Performance Administration staff
• Provide leadership and mentoring programs for Performance coaches based in Wales
• To manage and develop the National Boxing Facility based at Sport Wales National Centre

    Person Specification
• An understanding of elite level performance sport
• An interest in boxing
• Must have a reputation as a highly respected and knowledgeable manager
• Skilled and diplomatic negotiator
• Highly effective in strategic planning and producing performance plans with the ability to create and convey practical vision and objectives for the future
• Can demonstrate outstanding leadership and people management skills, with the ability to inspire others
• Be a good team player, able to develop effective internal working relationships and a wide number of external agencies, i.e. Sport Wales, GB Boxing, generating support and cooperating with the volunteer network
• Must demonstrate a thorough approach to work and able to organize him/herself and others effectively
• Management and budgeting experience
• Integrity and high ethical standards
• Ability to make objective, fact based decisions
