Physiotherapist – Featherstone Rovers

Job Description
Featherstone Rovers are a Semi-Professional Rugby League Club currently competing in the Rugby League’s Championship Division. The Rovers’ medical department prides itself in providing the highest standard of care to all of its players.

Featherstone Rovers are looking to employ an experienced physiotherapist for our first team squad. The role will involve the treatment and rehabilitation of the first team players along with game day cover and the general management of Featherstone Rovers’ medical department. You will be directly responsible for the development and delivery of the musculoskeletal care of the Featherstone Rovers first tea.

Responsible for: Masseuses and Students
Relationships: All medical staff, strength and conditioning staff and coaching staff.

Role Summary / Main Duties: To provide physiotherapy services to Featherstone Rovers, to include but not limited to the list below:
1) The assessment, treatment and rehabilitation of injuries occurred by rugby league players and staff.
2) To attend first team rugby games for the purpose of strapping, ‘on pitch’ assessment and treatment of injured players and post-match assessment relating to treatment/advice for injuries sustained during a match.
3) To ensure mandatory medical equipment is present, in-date and in working order at all training sessions and match days.
4) To undertake treatment and rehabilitation of players as and when required including unsociable hours and weekends.
5) To liaise with the coaching and conditioning staff around the implementation of structured treatment and rehabilitation plans in relation to the diagnosis of individual injuries and the individual players’ specific needs.
6) In conjunction with the strength and conditioning staff, design and implement modified programmes to optimise strength and conditioning without jeopardising the healing process.
7) To provide regular injury reports to coaching and conditioning staff.
8) To liaise with the club doctor and specialist consultants with regards to referrals for injured players and the optimisation of players’ management and recovery.
9) To liaise directly with coaching staff regarding match day arrangements including but not limited to travel arrangements and kick off times etc.
10) To maintain medical kit and supplies including but not limited to the ordering of new stock including strapping and other such materials used.
11) To maintain treatment rooms in a neat and tidy condition.
12) To be actively involved with the preparation and presentation of player education in respect to injury prevention.
13) To keep adequate clinical records for players attending for treatment in line with CSP/HPC guidelines.
14) To assist with pre-season and daily screening as required including the implementation of correct programmes and treatment
15) To design and facilitate prehabilitation programmes for the first team squad.
16) To ensure there is medical cover at all training sessions and games.

Personal Criteria:
•Degree / Diploma in Physiotherapy
• Registration with the Health Professionals Council (HPC)
• Membership to the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (CSP) including Professional Indemnity Cover
•IMMOFP Qualification preferable
•Full UK driving licence and car beneficial
•Post graduate qualifications desirable
•Previous experience working in a sporting environment, ideally Rugby League and professional sport, working as part of a multi-disciplinary team and with young athletes
•Ability to work using your own initiative and to work independently.

•Excellent organisational and interpersonal skills
•Knowledge of research and evidence based practice
•Flexible in approach to changing circumstances
•Personally and professionally responsible
•Ability to self-motivate and motivate others
•Outstanding hands on treatment skills
