UTC Portsmouth will be opening in September 2017 and we are seeking to appoint the Principal to provide outstanding leadership and to create an exciting place for learning that equips the students with the skills, knowledge and aptitude to give them competitive advantage in advanced manufacturing and electrical and mechanical engineering.
As our first Principal, you will need to be ambitious and visionary with high expectations for all of our students and you will have the exceptional organisational skills needed to successfully establish the new UTC. In preparation for opening, you will have the opportunity to recruit a team of exceptional staff and you will focus on recruiting the first cohort of students at years 10 and 12 alongside ensuring that the curriculum has been developed with our partners to deliver employability.
This new UTC will provide a focus for raising aspirations and developing skills and is an important keystone in developing the region’s future as a centre for advanced manufacturing and engineering. The UTC Portsmouth Project Steering Group see this initiative as pivotal to developing a creative and innovative workforce for the region and beyond.
You will need to be an experienced education professional with a proven track record of inspiring and motivating young people to succeed. You should be a successful leader in education with the ability to deliver an aspirational strategy. In addition the skills to work collaboratively to provide an enduring legacy of superior, technical education to 14-19 year olds (years 10-13) that meets the current and future skills requirements of employers.
