Newfield School, part of the Mercia Learning Trust, is seeking to appoint a high quality teacher who will challenge and excite our students and have the ability to consistently deliver inspirational and varied lessons. Imaginative and committed, you will have enthusiasm for your subject, high standards of professionalism and high expectations of students.
An able leader and team player, you will have the vision, enthusiasm and drive to build on the strong foundations that already exist in the department in order to guide the curriculum in science in both KS3 and KS4.
This is a tremendous time to join Newfield. In January 2009 we moved into a new building which provides excellent facilities for learning. On 1 May 2014 we became an Academy, joining King Ecgbert School in the Mercia Learning Trust.
The Learning Partnership is leading to many interesting developments, including opportunities for joint working for staff at all levels between the two schools. We hope to develop some joint teaching and learning which may include opportunities for Newfield staff to work with post-16 students (all Newfield students who meet the entrance criteria have a guaranteed place in the King Ecgbert 6th Form should they choose). Staff at Newfield are excited at the promise of the future and are committed to developing their professional repertoire to ensure student success is at the core of everything we do and to ensure our students achieve their full potential.
Newfield was inspected in November 2012 and despite the overall ‘requires improvement’ judgement, the report is overwhelmingly positive about the new direction the school is taking. There is still a way to go to ensure that our young people are receiving the very best education we can provide and you will need to be prepared to walk the extra mile to guarantee this happens in your classroom and department.
Please apply to the school using the application form that is available from the school website or by emailing enquiries@newfield.sheffield.sch.uk.
In addition to the application form, please include a covering letter (no more than 2 sides A4) in which you address the following points:

Your vision for science at Newfield School in the next three years and how your role as second in department would help to bring this about
