Senior Researcher / Writer – food and consumer issues
From exposing the issues facing consumers today to recommending the products people should consider or avoid, Which? does the hard work so consumers don’t have to. Could you write hard-hitting investigative articles for our 600,000 plus readers, researching the issues consumers face in their day to day lives?
We are looking for a talented and enthusiastic researcher and writer to join our editorial research team on a permanent basis, to deliver online and print content for which.co.uk and Which? Magazine.
What you’ll be doing
The role involves researching and writing groundbreaking investigations about food issues from how healthy our food is, to how safe it is. Although the primary focus of the role is food, we are looking for someone with an interest in wider consumer issues, as you would also regularly write about a range of topics from scams to product safety. You will be responsible for carrying out your own research, whether that’s working with labs to find out what’s really in your takeaway or analysing government data about food safety.
What we’re looking for
We’re looking for someone with excellent journalistic skills. This includes first rate writing skills and experience of writing in a clear and accessible way, for a consumer audience – both print and online. Experience of using a CMS and using web analytics would be an advantage
Ideally you’ll have experience of designing in-depth research and have some knowledge of Excel. An analytical mind is essential. You will be curious by nature with excellent project management skills, and be adept at juggling multiple projects to meet tight deadlines.
Enthusiasm for working on behalf of consumers is a must; as is an appetite to research and write about the issues facing consumers. The job has a food focus so an understanding of consumer food issues would be helpful.
What we can offer you
We’ll expect a lot of you, but you can expect just as much in return. We have one of the most comprehensive rewards packages around – one that includes a generous pension scheme, 28 days’ holiday, private medical insurance after 6 months service, free life assurance, interest-free season ticket loan and much more besides.
So, if you can demonstrate excellent research and writing skills and a real enthusiasm and passion for consumer issues, we’d love to hear from you.
