Job Description
Team Sheffield Hallam are widening their athlete support services team to offer sport psychology and lifestyle support to all performance athletes and TASS athletes.
The Sport Psychology and Lifestyle Studentships will play a key role within the athlete support network, working with athletes, coaches and other key personnel to ensure TSH and TASS athlete have a winning mind-set to achieve the optimal performance.
As a sports psychologist and lifestyle practitioner you would work with individual athletes covering a variety of concepts including;
• supporting athletes to manage academics and sport
• goal setting
• athletes needs analysis
• coaches need analysis
• dealing with nerves and anxiety
• improving self-confidence
• coping with the demands of training and competition
• improving concentration
• Staying motivated and focused in spite of stress, distraction and discomfort.
• coping with injuries
We are looking for two enthusiastic individuals that will be an integrated part of the support team understanding the needs of each athlete. Working alongside the Performance Athlete Support Officer to deliver a consistent lifestyle and sports psychology support programme.
Responsibilities
• To work with the Performance Athlete Support Officer to establish a delivery plan to ensure athletes are best prepared to balance sport and academics.
• To deliver 121 lifestyle and sports psychology sessions to TSH and TASS athletes
• To deliver lifestyle and sports psychology workshops to TSH and TASS athletes
• To support TSH sports coaches through issues or problematic periods
• To offer support at critical periods through the athletes competition schedule to teams and individual athletes.
• To work with the TSH support services team to build sport psychology and lifestyle into an annual support programme.
