Summer Sports Practitioner – Let Me Play – London, Surrey, Midlands, North West

Job Description

This Summer Let Me Play are delivering for an exciting project which brings young people together from diverse backgrounds to deliver on the government NCS (National Citizenship Service) programme. Young people take on physical, social and civic challenges that prepare them to design and deliver a project that will make a difference in their community. This is a way for young people to master skills that they can’t learn in schools, providing them with real world skills. It is an opportunity for young people to learn leadership, management, communication and organizational skills

Sports Practitioner Role

The Sports Practitioner is responsible for leading sessions which teach sports coaching skills, over three days, to a team of twelve young people. The Practitioner then leads a visit to local community groups (including elderly care homes, youth clubs and disability centres) so that the young people can pass on their newly found coaching skills. The 3 days culminates in a showcase presenting what they have learnt to family and friends.

Over the summer, the Sports Practitioner works with a number of different teams.

This role is suitable for someone with experience of facilitating sports sessions with young people and working with community groups. This is a fulfilling and demanding position which involves supporting the skill development of 15-17 year olds.

Working Schedule

The working schedule is between July – August and we are looking for those with good availability during those months. Roles are available in London, Surrey, the Midlands, and the North West.

About You

We are looking to employ sports coaches and PE Teachers who are passionate about youth sport, education and positive activity for young people. The right person will bring solid coaching knowledge, experience, high energy and enthusiasm.

Essential

1. Previous experience of coaching sport.
2. Experience of working with 15 – 17 year olds.
3. Enthusiasm for working with young people and helping to develop them.
4. Experience of coaching in different scenarios with people with varying needs.
5. 100% reliable and committed.
6. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
