The City of London Academy Islington was judged by OFSTED in March 2014 to be a ‘Good’ school overall. Achievement of pupils, quality of teaching, behaviour and safety of pupils, were all individually graded as “good”; and Leadership and management was graded as “outstanding”.
Our 2014 summer examination results are the best the Academy has ever had. Almost 50% of our Advanced Level entries secured an A*-B pass grade and over 60% of our Year 13 students have secured a place at University. Our GCSE results doubled from 2012 to 2013 and our 2014 results are higher still, with 70% of our students achieving the highest grades of 5 A*-C passes including English and Mathematics.
Our Ofsted 2014 reads:-
“Students’ behaviour in lessons and around the Academy is calm and polite”;
“Attainment is rapidly rising. The proportion of students obtaining five or more GCSE grades A* to C including English and Mathematics has nearly doubled in the last year”;
“In the words of a number of those associated with the Academy, the Principal provides ‘inspirational’ leadership. The whole community feels that the vision of an outstanding Academy is becoming a reality.”
