Teacher of Japanese – London Academy of Excellence (LAE) – Newham

LAE seeks a graduate teacher to teach GCSE Japanese. We seek a teacher committed to high academic standards but also one who can communicate to young people an enthusiasm for the subject. A teaching qualification is not required for this post, but a passion for Japanese and for teaching young people is a necessity.

The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching Japanese towards a GCSE qualification. It will be taken by sixth formers as an extra subject in addition to their A-levels. Experience of teaching Japanese GCSE previously is highly desirable. Previously we have run a Japanese extra-curricular club and we are pleased that we can now develop this into studying for a formal qualification due to a kind donation from the Japan Foundation.

We are looking for a teacher to work with a class of 15-20 sixth formers for approximately three hours a week for a total of 100 hours over the academic year. There are funds available to purchase text books and teaching resources.

Child Protection

All members of staff must comply with LAE’s Safeguarding & Welfare Policy. If in the course of carrying out the duties of the post the post holder becomes aware of any actual or potential risks to the safety and welfare of our sixthformers, these concerns must be reported immediately in accordance with the policy.

The London Academy of Excellence is committed to the safeguarding and welfare of children and applicants must be willing to undergo child protection screening appropriate to this post, including checks with past employers and the Disclosure and Barring Service.
