Teacher of Religious Studies, Philosophy / Ethics – The Weald Community School and Sixth Form – West Sussex

For January 2016, we are seeking to appoint a well-qualified, talented and committed teacher of Religious Studies, Philosophy and Ethics on a full time, permanent basis.

The Weald is a high achieving, popular and oversubscribed 11-18 comprehensive school with 1,600 students, including 320 in the Sixth Form, situated in the heart of the Sussex countryside, 10 minutes from Horsham, 35 minutes from Guildford and Brighton, and an hour by train to London. The school has an excellent record of academic and pastoral achievement and prides itself in creating a caring and respectful ethos where every child is important. The school was judged to be “outstanding in all areas” by Ofsted in November 2013.

You will:

Be a well-qualified (with Qualified Teacher Status), and enthusiastic teacher of RS, Philosophy and Ethics who can inspire and engage young people.
Have the ability to offer Philosophy & Ethics and / or Sociology at A Level
Have the ability to motivate staff and students, with a proven track record of excellent results and impact within their current department
Have excellent organisational, interpersonal and ICT skills
Have the capacity to work collaboratively as part of a team
Demonstrate a passion for excellence and for the subject
Share good practice in order to contribute to The Weald’s continued drive to improve
Be willing to be a form tutor.
