Required for April 2016 an enthusiastic and committed Religious Studies teacher to teach GCSE and possibly A level.
The RS Department comprises 6 RS teachers and an Administrator who provides support for 1 day a week. RS has its own suite of rooms, and a department office. The department is well resourced and enjoys excellent examination success. In 2015 95% of the 320 students entered gained A* -C in full course GCSE RS, with 62% gaining an A*/A. The pass rate at both AS and A level was 100% and 71% of AS and 63% of A level students gained A/A*-B grades.
All Year 10 students follow a GCSE RS (short course) for two 50-minute periods a week, and a minority take the short course exam at the end of Year 10. In Year 11 the majority of students take full course RS.
The successful candidate will be expected to teach GCSE RS to both Year 10 Year 11 groups. There may be a possibility of teaching AS level for a suitably qualified and experienced candidate. All students in Year 10 currently follow AQA GCSE Religious Studies, Specification B: Unit 2 (Religion and Life Issues) and take Unit 3 (Religion and Morality) in Year 11. AS and A2 options are available in Philosophy and Ethics with OCR.
