As a member of our Board of Trustees you will have the opportunity to make a real difference to children’s lives by helping to develop our strategic goals, monitoring the charity’s performance and supporting our staff team in the delivery of our programmes.
We are looking for people who are able to bring enthusiasm for reading, a collegiate working style and a strong appreciation of our mission to encourage social mobility through promoting the value of reading. All trustees need to be able to provide effective strategic oversight of the charity’s activities – we can help with training in this – but we would also welcome experience in the areas of education, publishing, fundraising and finance to complement the broad range of skills already present on our Board.
In addition, we are keen to improve the diversity of our Board and would therefore especially welcome interest from people of BAME backgrounds, people from the nations and regions, and parents and guardians of children who are current recipients of our programmes.
We hope you are excited by this opportunity and look forward to hearing from you. You should apply by submitting a current CV, covering letter and equal opportunities form to recruitment@booktrust.org.uk. Please demonstrate how you meet the requirements laid down in the trustee role description and what you would hope to gain from contributing to the management of our charity.
Closing date: 9.00am 20 April 2015.
Interviews: late May
