Are you a talented writer who can turn your hand to any topic? Could you conjure up feature ideas that will entertain, inspire and motivate horse lovers? If so, this opening for an enthusiastic features editor could be perfect for you.
The role
Your Horse magazine is looking for someone to write and manage all of its features content. They will also support the editor to ensure their vision for the magazine is brought to life and help them deliver 13 issues each year (plus supplements) while ensuring the magazine is bursting with features that Your Horse readers will love! In addition, the features editor will ensure that the Your Horse website is always up to date with news and advice.
Ideal candidate
The right person for the job will have strong journalistic skills, a proven track record as a writer and up-to-date equestrian knowledge. They will be organised and flexible with a positive, can-do attitude, a strong eye for detail, the ability to write engaging features and to come up with plenty of fresh ideas.
Key responsibilities
Generating feature ideas and creating a forward plan for the magazine’s features content
Writing features that are exclusive, engaging and relevant to the Your Horse reader (they will also write some advice and instruction content)
Helping to plan magazine content with the editor and editorial team
Working to deadline
Reading and editing copy
Helping to deliver the brand’s own shows – Your Horse Live and Total Confidence Live
Managing the news and advice content on the Your Horse website
Experience/skills required
At least two years’ experience working as writer or features editor
Excellent writing skills and perfect grammar
Experience using social media
Experience editing copy would be preferable but is not essential
Keen interest in all things equestrian
Additional information
The position is located at Bauer Media in Peterborough and is office-based. The official hours are 9:00am- 5:30pm, however, out of hours work and event attendance is expected. Salary DOE.
