Opportunity
This role will be based at our manufacturing site in Glasgow and will be working days – Monday to Friday (08:30 to 17:30)
You will work within a team of technicians and scientists in a GxP environment to facilitate the validation and transfer of new processes and test methods from development into the manufacturing department. You will also provide support where required to manufacture and test reagents for commercial sale and related validation activities. You will be part of the manufacturing team but will also be required to work in collaboration with the development transfer team. Manufactured reagents will be used to produce test strip devices for a wide range of assays on the LumiraDx platform.
You will be responsible for supporting the validation of new assays into the manufacturing department that achieve the consistently high quality required for progression to production and that they meet the Design for Manufacture requirements. Responsible for performing ongoing process improvement activities for existing assays and providing support for the ongoing manufacture and testing of reagents and related components to ensure the supply of consistently high quality reagents to meet production requirements, while maintaining a compliant GMP laboratory environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Ensure raw material and consumable availability and prepare process buffers and stock solutions, to allow reagent manufacturing and validation schedule to be met.
Manufacture assay reagents safely, efficiently in line with schedule, current SOPs and WIs and validation protocols to meet strip production requirements.
Evaluate performance of raw and in-process materials at critical stages of manufacture and carry out final formulation testing.
Carry out routine calibration, maintenance and running of laboratory and analytical equipment and support external supplier maintenance activities as required.
Required Experience
About You:
We are looking for a highly motivated individual with exceptional attention to detail and high level of skills in problem solving and a can do attitude, along with the following experience:
Essential Skills:
Experience working within a laboratory environment or similar scientific manufacturing industry.
Confidence working with minimal supervision in a lab environment.
Ability to follow complex protocols and accurately complete batch records.
Good at problem solving and troubleshooting.
Can work well within a group environment.
Computer literacy and data analysis skills.
Good communication, personal task management skills and high self-motivation.
Desirable Skills:
Degree qualified in a relevant scientific discipline.
Commercial diagnostic assay, or similar industry experience.
Knowledge of good laboratory working practices, GMP standards, including Validation protocols and Non-Conformances.
Knowledge and experience of working within a biohazard environment.
