Health Data Research UK is the new national institute for data science for health, which is being established in 2018 with long term (10 year+) funding support from research councils, UKRI, charitable and governmental research funders. The mission of HDR UK is to drive improvements in the health tripartite of patients and populations through research at regional and national scale. To deliver this mission, the Wellcome Sanger Institute (WSI), EMBL-European Bioinformatics Institute (EBI), and the University of Cambridge (UoC) and its associated hospitals came together as the HDR UK Cambridge partnership.

Essential Skills
Higher degree in computer science or similar numerical discipline [or relevant practical experience working in the health informatics domain]
Substantial experience of IT systems strategy and implementation in either the NHS or a biomedical research environment, including understanding of relevant standards
Extensive experience of technical project conception, planning and implementation
Excellent analytical and problem solving skills, with the ability to absorb complex information and quickly identify the key points
Understanding of data science tools and techniques, ideally in a research context
Ability to work effectively across organisational boundaries
Demonstrated leadership, including management of budgets, people, and projects
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with demonstrated ability to communicate technical subjects to people at all levels
Excellent team workingskills, ability to build strong relationships across a complex partnership organisation
Excellent time management and proven ability to manage multiple tasks while dealing with evolving plans and priorities
Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to develop strong collaborative working relationships internally and across a wide range of stakeholders
Excellent negotiating skills and diplomacy
