Job Summary
The Data Product Owner is responsible for driving the strategy for the team of data scientists, analysts, and engineers toward the vision of fit-for-purpose data use in analytics, scientific applications, and computational models where the data may be applied. They will collaborate with a broad cross-functional team including external collaborators and internal business stakeholders to plan, execute and demonstrate the teams work. The Data Product Owner is an innovative thinker, passionate on the goal and a good communicator with the ability to manage stakeholders across scientific, business and data science teams.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The Data Product Owner should have hands-on scientific knowledge with the type of drug discovery and development data sets to be used by the data team, and be able to act as a translator between system and business SMEs and the data team to ensure proper application of business rules
Following Agile methodology, the Data Product Owner will set goals for the data team and communicate them effectively to the data team, key stakeholders and beyond
Own the end-to-end team output strategy from goal planning to production
Collaborate with external and internal stakeholders to ensure alignment of goals to product needs
Utilize product knowledge to translate user needs into user stories and acceptance criteria for their team
Maintain a backlog 3 to 4 sprints ahead of the team
Facilitate release planning with stakeholders as well as frequent demos, based on sprint cadence
Key Agile team contributor working with the team daily
Perform all other related duties as assigned
Qualifications:
3-5 years of hands-on experience with internal scientific data sets (capture, storage and handling)
Ability to work in a cross functional technical team
Strong leader, collaborator, team player, and individual contributor
Strong communication skills with comfort in speaking with business stakeholders
Strong problem solver with ability to manage and lead the team to push the solution and progress
Passion to challenge the status quo and find new solutions and drive out of the box ideas loves and embraces change
Believes in a non-hierarchical culture of collaboration, transparency, safety, and trust
Not afraid to roll up the sleeves and seeks to go outside comfort zone to learn pushes teams to do the same

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Must regularly operate a computer in an office-like environment
Must regularly communicate with employees/customers; must be able to exchange accurate information.
COMMENTS:
This position requires occasional domestic and international travel
