Academy Manager – Middlesbrough Football Club

Job Description
Background
Middlesbrough Football Club (MFC), founded in 1876, are an English Premier League club with a rich history of developing young players who have gone on to play at First Team level.
MFC have Category 1 status and are now looking to appoint an Academy Manager to continue and develop the Academy environment. The role will report to the Chief Executive and will be based at MFC’s training ground at Rockliffe Park.
The purpose of the role will be to lead the Academy Management Team in providing strategic development for a learning environment which adopts the core values of the club whilst continuing to allow talented footballers from Teesside and further afield to achieve their potential.

Accountabilities
Strategic
Ensure a culture of elite performance within the Academy.
Be responsible for the maintenance of the Academy EPPP Category 1 status, retaining the Club identity and culture whilst ensuring the Academy meets the expected audit requirements through striving for best practice operations.
Define and manage the Academy budget as agreed with the Board Working with the recruitment department to ensure that regional Academy recruitment operations are best in class and that national and international strategic recruitment enhances our local talent pool and that all recruitment provides a player succession framework capable of providing first team players for MFC.
Be accountable for the health, education and welfare of all the young players through adequately trained and managed Academy functions to meet the technical and psychological demands of a professional footballer and ensuring a pathway for those who are unsuccessful in pursuing a career in football.

Leadership
Lead the continual development and implementation of the Academy Performance Plan, ensuring that attainment is tracked and reviewed through key performance measures and performance management of the Academy Management Team is delivered.
Support the Head of Coaching in the development of the Academy Playing Philosophy, Coaching Philosophy and Coaching curriculum.
Be responsible for the personal and professional development of Academy staff, by creating and fostering a high performing environment of continual personal development and leading by example.

Communication
Develop beneficial relationships and represent the Club and Academy externally (e.g. parents, schools, leagues, governing bodies), always setting an exemplary standard for behaviours and being an ambassador for the Club promoting the core values of the Academy: Humility, Respect, Honesty.
