Background
An exciting opportunity has arisen within Exeter Chiefs Rugby Club based at Truro College to join our experienced sports medical team. Exeter Chiefs are the West Country’s premier sporting club, with a satellite academy site at Truro College. Formed in 1871, Exeter Chiefs Rugby Club is steeped in tradition and prides itself on delivering professional workmanship, both on and off the field. We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic, hard working and dynamic academy physiotherapist to be based at Truro College and oversee the day to day management of our academy athletes. The successful applicant will be driven to advance, develop and improve as part of high performing academy medical department.
Job Description:
The role of the Academy physiotherapist will be required to accurately assess, diagnose, treat and rehabilitate players based at Truro collage and across the Exeter Chiefs academy U14-18s network. The need to practice autonomously, under the guidance of the lead Academy physiotherapist with be important and
effective communication skills are essential. The roles will also require pitch side duties both game day and training. This is an excellent opportunity for the successful candidate to learn and develop their clinical and rehabilitation skills within an experienced premiership medical team.
Essential requirements:
· BSc in Physiotherapy
· Member of the CSP or equivalent insurance provider
· Registration with HCPC
· Experience working with adolescent athletes in sport
· Current driver’s license
Highly desirable:
· Experience in rugby union
· MSc sport physiotherapy/ Equivalent
· ICIS pitch side qualification
Key Responsibilities:
· Liaise with the Lead Academy Physiotherapist in the assessment, diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation of all identified academy players at Truro College and throughout the U14-18 academy programme.
· Report and communicate effectively within the MDT (doctors, physiotherapist, S&C and coaching staff)
· Autonomously plan, develop and implement treatment and rehabilitations plans for injured academy players.
· Delivery of physiotherapy services for the U 14-16’s DPP (developing player programme)
· Delivery of physiotherapy services for the U14-18 Exeter chiefs academy fixtures
· Develop and implement an effective and dynamic prehabilaition programme at Truro College.
· Assist with daily and weekly musculoskeletal screening of all players as required.
· Assist with the daily maintenance treatment and delivery of rehabilitation to playing squad.
· Keeping documentation on all aspects of injury management in accordance to the standards set by the Health Professions Council (HCPC).
· Assist the medical team with administrative obligations such as injury audits, medical insurance and other matters as required.
· To keep up to date on current best practices, maintain CPD and take an active role in the departments CPD programme.
· To carry out any other duties that may be required by the Director of Sports Medicine, Head of medical services, lead academy physiotherapist
