We are looking for outstanding sport and physical activity practitioner’s who want to make a real difference to residents and families in Slough. If you are enthusiastic, fun and passionate about wanting families to change and succeed then this is the role for you!
The Active Communities team are responsible for delivering the ‘Active Slough’ sport and physical activity programmes, with the principal aim to get more people, more active, more often.
We work closely with statutory partners, service users, the community and the voluntary sectors, to promote and create innovative ways of tackling local inactivity challenges, and ensure services deliver improved and sustained outcomes to get more people active more often.
We are looking for an enthusiastic, proactive and passionate person to drive a new programme called ‘Chalvey Can’ funded by Sport England, the programme aims to reduce inactivity amongst our lower socio economic families in one of our deprived wards called Chalvey.
You will work closely with communities and partners to deliver key programmes and activities which bring families in the targeted ward together and participating in a programme of sport and physical activity. An ability to socialise and develop strong working relationships will be vital as well as an excellent manner with the wider community including families with multiple challenges. You will need to have an imaginative and problem-solving approach to ensure successful programme of delivery that positively impacts the lives of the families that we are targeting.
The ideal candidate will hold a recognised NGB Level 1 coaching qualification and have a keen interest in sport and getting more people active more often. The programme will use a range of initiatives, from 1-1 engagement and work with families to devising and delivering opportunities for families and the wider community to participate in.
Candidtes should understand the council’s 5 year plan, Sport England’s Active Nation Strategy including their funded programmes and the councils Leisure Strategy and how we are working towards delivering key outcomes in all our plans.
