The Bradford Bulls are a Professional Rugby League team competing in Rugby League’s Championship. We have a proud and successful history including 5 Challenge Cups, 6 League Titles and 3 World Club Titles. The Bull’s Medical Department prides itself in providing the highest standard of care to all its players.
Bradford Bulls are looking to employ a Physiotherapist for our academy. The role will also include assisting with the first team squad for both training and game day. The successful candidate will be part of the team responsible for our AASE / u19s squad.
Responsible to: Head of Medical, Head of Youth, Head Coach.
Responsible for: Interns and Students.
Relationships: All Medical, Strength & Conditioning, and Coaching Staff, Both First Team and Academy.
Role Summary: Provide Physiotherapy Services to both the First Team and Academy Squads. To include but not limited to:
1. The assessment, treatment and rehabilitation of injuries incurred by rugby league players and staff.
2. To attend u19’s and First Team rugby games for the purpose of strapping, ‘on pitch’ assessment and treatment of injured players and post-‐ match assessment relating to treatment/advice for injuries sustained during a match.
3. To undertake treatment and rehabilitation of players as and when required including unsociable hours and weekends.
4. To liaise with the Head of Medical, Conditioning and Coaching staff around the implementation of a structured treatment and rehabilitation plan in relation to the diagnosis of individual injuries and the individual player’s specific needs.
5. In conjunction with both Medical and Strength and Conditioning staff design and implement a modified programme to optimise strength and conditioning development whilst promoting the healing process.
6. Provide regular injury reports to Medical, Performance and Coaching staff.
7. To liaise with the club doctor’s and specialist consultants with regard to referral in relation to injured players.
8. To liaise directly with the coaching staff regarding match day arrangements including but not limited to travel arrangements, kick-‐off times etc.
9. To maintain your own medical kit and supplies, including but not limited to ordering new stocks of strapping and other such materials used.
10. To maintain treatment rooms in a neat and tidy condition.
11. To be actively involved with the preparation and presentation of player education programmes, in respect of injury prevention.
12. Commit to and contribute to an ongoing professional development programme including being a part of the medical / performance department’s in-‐service training programme.
13. To keep adequate written clinical records for players attending for treatment.
14. To provide evidence of State Registration with the Health Professionals Council (HPC), membership to the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (CSP) including Professional Indemnity cover.
15. Assist with preseason and daily screening of all squads and implement corrective programmes and treatment.
16. Regularly Update the RFL’s injury survey for the first team squad.
17. In conjunction with Head of Medical Design and facilitate prehabilitation programmes for both the academy and first team squads.
18. Responsible for data collection and distribution to other backroom staff on both injury stats and player screening results.
